ABOUT THE COMPANY
Serving Wisconsin and northern Illinois, Performance Elevator Consulting (PEC) is an independent vertical transportation consultancy based in Milwaukee and Madison that specializes in elevator and escalator modernization, new equipment specifications, maintenance specifications, contract management, annual safety inspections, and elevator evaluation services.

PEC was founded in 2001 by Paul Rosenberg and represents four generations of the Rosenberg family in the Wisconsin elevator industry. Paul started at Northwestern Elevator in 1983, eventually becoming part-owner and was Vice President of Service Operations at the time of Northwestern’s sale to Otis Elevator in 1998. Paul was the Field Operations Manager for Otis Elevator before starting PEC. Paul primarily serves PEC’s Milwaukee area clients.

Adam Smith, PEC’s elevator consultant to the Madison area, started his vertical transportation career in 1999 as a member of IUEC Local 10, constructing elevators in the Washington DC area. After gaining experience in the field, Adam switched to inspecting elevators, primarily in Virginia, New York, and Wisconsin. In 2009, Adam joined the Madison Fire Department to develop and manage the City of Madison Elevator Inspection program. In 2014, Adam went to work for a major elevator manufacturer as a service supervisor and code advisor. Adam joined PEC in 2017 and focuses on their Madison area clients.

DEDICATED TO SAFETY
Part of PEC’s mission is playing a leading role in code development at the local and national level. Paul Rosenberg is Chair of the Conveyance Safety Code Council in Wisconsin, a member of the ASME A17.1 Maintenance, Repair, and Replacement Committee, and serves as an Alternate on the main A17.1 Standards Committee. Adam Smith is a member of the A17.2 Inspections Committee and a former member of the Wisconsin Conveyance Safety Code Council and the A17.1 Regulatory Advisory Council.
